DX Architects is a Melbourne-based architecture practice led by Architect Daniel Xuereb. Established in 2007, the studio designs individually considered homes, residential developments and commercial environments across metropolitan, coastal and regional Victoria.
Our work begins with understanding the qualities of each site and the people who will experience it. We look beyond the immediate brief to consider how a project should function, feel and adapt over time.
The result is architecture that responds meaningfully to its setting while supporting the practical realities of everyday life.
DX Architects began with a personal project. While Daniel Xuereb renovated his family home, Daniel and his family lived above the practice’s Richmond studio. This close relationship between home, family and architectural practice established a deeply practical understanding of how design decisions influence daily life.
From this beginning, DX Architects has grown into a close-knit team of architects and designers working across residential, heritage, multi-residential, commercial and regional projects.
Since 2007, the practice has built its reputation through thoughtful design, close client relationships and careful project delivery. Our work has been recognised through industry awards and publications, but its most important measure remains how well each project serves the people who commissioned it.
Daniel Xuereb is the founder and Director of DX Architects and a registered architect in Victoria and New South Wales.
Daniel leads the practice with a strong interest in the relationship between architecture, context and everyday life. His experience spans contemporary homes, heritage alterations and additions, residential development, commercial architecture and project delivery.
Daniel provides design direction and strategic oversight across the studio, working closely with clients and project teams at key stages.
Every site has its own conditions, history and opportunities. We consider orientation, neighbourhood character, landscape, climate, planning controls, existing buildings and patterns of use before establishing a design response.
This allows each project to belong to its setting rather than impose a predetermined architectural style.
Architecture should support the way people live, work and connect. We take time to understand our clients’ routines, priorities and aspirations, including the qualities they want their spaces to provide.
These insights inform decisions about spatial planning, natural light, privacy, materials, storage, flexibility and the relationship between inside and outside.
Strong design depends on more than a compelling idea. It requires planning knowledge, technical resolution, consultant coordination and careful construction documentation.
We consider how a project will be approved, built, maintained and experienced over time. This balance allows us to pursue distinctive outcomes while keeping the design grounded in function, buildability and long-term value.
Sustainability is considered throughout the design process. Orientation, passive solar design, natural ventilation, thermal performance, material selection, durability and adaptability are assessed in relation to each site and brief.
Our aim is to create environments that use resources responsibly, support wellbeing and remain useful for many years.
Design is an iterative process shaped by conversation, testing and informed decisions. We work closely with our clients, consultants, authorities and builders while maintaining a clear architectural direction.
We explain complex matters in accessible terms so clients understand the available options, the implications of each decision and what is required at every stage.
Working with an architect can feel complex, particularly for clients undertaking a project for the first time. Our role is to provide clarity and guidance while ensuring clients remain meaningfully involved in the decisions that shape their project.
Clients can expect:
We offer a complete architectural service from early briefing and feasibility through to practical completion. The scope of our involvement can also be tailored to suit the needs and stage of each project.
DX Architects is a close-knit studio of architects and designers who bring different perspectives, skills and experience to each commission.
Collaboration within the studio allows ideas to be tested and developed collectively, while clear project leadership maintains continuity and accountability. Clients benefit from the combined knowledge of the team without losing the personal relationship central to our approach.
We value curiosity, design rigour, technical understanding and professional responsibility. These qualities shape both our projects and the way we work together.
DX Architects’ work has received industry recognition and has been featured in architectural and design publications.
Selected awards and publications reflect the quality of our completed work and the productive relationships developed with our clients, consultants and builders.
Choosing an architect is the beginning of a significant working relationship. We welcome conversations with private clients, developers and commercial clients who value thoughtful design, open collaboration and careful project delivery.
In the spirit of reconciliation, DX Architects acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
We are a group of enthusiastic, dedicated architects and designers who are driven by passion, creativity, and professionalism.
